You will be a scientific research worker capable of independently solving the problems of the development of inorganic technologies, including waste reduction and solutions for their evaluation, especially in the field of glass. You will amaze with your deep theoretical knowledge in the field of thermodynamics, kinetics, computer technology and informatics. You will be able to work actively in a team, forecast developments in your field and perform project management.
The Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín is part of the European Higher Education Area, whose mission is to develop a harmonious personality, knowledge and creativity in a person. The university provides higher education at 4 faculties: socio-economic relations, special technology, health and industrial technologies, as well as at the Department of Political Science and the Center for Functional Glass.
The university is a modern educational institution with several top scientific departments and is a respected partner of universities and industry. It has an established education quality system according to international standards, offers studies in a foreign language and is the third Slovak university to receive EUR-ACE accreditation for technical study programs. In 2017, it was included in the “Key Enable Technologies” list thanks to the FunGlass center, making it the only Slovak representative in this prestigious network.

Trenčín is a regional capital in western Slovakia, located on the Váh River. The city is dominated by the 11th-century Trenčín Castle, one of the largest castles in Central Europe. The city is known for its rich history, cultural life, and is a major industrial center with a population of approx. 55,000. It is the seat of the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín and regularly hosts major cultural events such as the Pohoda festival. The city of Trenčín will be the European City of Culture in 2026

Yes, because we offer support with free Slovak language courses during your studies. Many international students start with English and gradually learn Slovak. Our university and the city itself are friendly to international students.

Admission process
You have to send application. Recognition of leaving certificates and diplomas issued by secondary school in another state is performed at the Regional Office of School Administration (Regionálny úrad školskej správy) in the region of the permanent residence of the applicant or the region of the university location.
You can submit the application first and provide the required documents later.
Entrance exames are only at Faculty of Healthcare.
There is no age limit, as long as you have completed high school.

The academic year at our university starts only once a year – in September.
Our university provides accommodation for students during their study in University dormitory Záblatie but also in 3 others contract dormitories.
Students apply for accommodation only through the Academic Information System (AIS2).
Living on campus is not mandatory – you can also arrange private accommodation by yourself.
Trenčín is located on the main railway route between Bratislava and Košice, which means fast and easy transportation. There are airports in Bratislava, Vienna and Budapest nearby, so traveling abroad is hassle-free. You can get around the city by public transport, bicycle or scooter, but also on foot, because everything is close by.
If you want to earn some extra money, there are many part-time job opportunities in Trenčín, especially in cafes, restaurants, shops. The university also cooperates with a number of companies where you can get practical experience or an internship in your field while you are studying. The average hourly wage is around €5, which will allow you to cover your costs during your studies.
Sports clubs (University hockey team Gladiators, football team, workout parks), Student Radio (creating your own podcasts, interviews with interesting guests), Creative Center. Trenčín lives with culture all year round, there are various festivals, concerts, Christmas markets. Recreational island on the Váh River (swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking), cycling trails.
